Selenium is in stage 16 of the ironseries. Oxygen and Sulphur are also in that stage which is similar to pisces.

Surrender to the universe, to higher goals, ego sacrifice. Compassion and empathy, selfless work. Seeing the unity of all things. The end of cycles, forming seeds for the next cycle of growth. Mysticism, fails to make normal distinctions. Laziness, victim, martyr, servant. Tends to escapism. Fantasy, drugs, alcohol, religion. Very receptive, sensitive, even psychic. Co-dependency, care-taking.

The complement of pisces is virgo, which is similar to the whole ironseries.

The ironseries has the polarity between critical and indifference with the purpose of function after integrating the quality of pisces. And stage 16 has the polarity between laziness and confusion with the purpose of compassion after integrating the quality of virgo.

Scholten mentions indifference and lazyness in their work.

Feel indifferent to their task. Do not have a sense of duty anymore. Always behind with their work, but always come up with an excuse. Inclined to work shortly, until they have enough to live from. Sloppy, let everything become a chaos. Feeling that they can get things done even if they do not work so hard. Inclined to fantasise about their work. All kind of ideas and fantasies about how it would have been if they had chosen another study or job. Do as if everything is easy for them. When criticised they are inclined to neglect that. Become cynical to those who criticise them.

Scandium is the first remedy in stage 3. The previous series did go from stage 2 to stage 13, but here in the ironseries the 10 stages in between are filled with the transition metals. The zodiacsign that belongs to stage 3 is gemini

Clever, curious, communication. Making connection with surroundings. Trying to figure out, intelligence. Talkative, sociable, loves to interact with others on a superficial level. Unemotional, impersonal, ruled by rationality. Requires great mental stimulation. Playfull, inconstant, attention easily drifts so something new, seeks novelty.

Here with Scandium it has to do with the polarity between curious and anxious in combination with the profession or task (virgo). Scholten talks about trying all kinds of possible jobs.

Don’t know which task to choose. Can not decide, but it has to be perfect. Start all kind of professions, but do not persevere. When something goes wrong, they withdraw and do not go on.

The complementary sign of gemini is sagittarius. With the previous complementary signs there was a projection of their own inner nature on the outside world with Kalium (libra), and the carefull attempt to integrate their own contradictions with Calcium (scorpio).

Now with Scandium (sagittarius) there is an expansion of the worldview. Start looking around but not really get involved yet.

Titanium is in stage 4 of the ironseries and is a transition. The previous stage was similar to gemini, the primordial mind and the next stage is similar to cancer, the primordial soul. So stage 4 is in between and has the characteristics of both.

A word that describes it is double-minded. It is the phase where a rational decision turns out to be different from the actual experience. In Homeopathy and the elements:

Stuck in the initial stage of a project. Always stuck in the beginning of something, always on the point of choosing. We could imagine the situation of someone getting into a boat: one foot is already on board and the other foot is still on land.

So here in stage 4 it is not so much about the polarity of a sign (gemini between curious and anxious, or cancer between claiming and abandon) or the integration of the complementary sign (sagittarius the complement of gemini, and capricorn the compliment of cancer) but more about learning how to let the mind work together with the soul.

The final quality of stage 4 is the ability to talk about and explain emotions and experiences in a logical way.

And with Titanium this is on the individual level of  virgo:

Embodiment of the individual in the world. Problems of adjustment dealing with the world and others. Perfection of the approach to life. Development of mundane skills, ability to change to adapt to life better. Service, helping, perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional, analytical.

Vanadium, the next remedy in the ironseries is in stage 5 which is similar to cancer.

Nurturing, support, emotional bonding, belonging, roots, source. Ground of your being. The unconscious, feelings, emotion, first emotional attachments to the world. Mothering, emotional and physical nurturing. Experiences and imprinting during infancy and childhood. Family, ancestors, heritage, relationships to the past. Belonging, feeling at home, caring. Feeling supported, that needs are provided for. Insecurities and fears if your needs haven’t been fulfilled.

But these are not exactly the qualities people need in their professional life. Scholten talks about high goals and the alternation between succes and failure.

Feel they have to accomplish a lot, high goals, especially in their profession, but do not know if they will succeed. Fear of failure, they think they will make mistakes, and get blamed for not doing it right. Not dare to take responsibity for their choices. If they fail they feel guilty. Accomplishment and failure are two basic expressions.  Have to be successful and do their best for that, with success in the beginning. Also the duality strong and weak.

These characteristics much more resemble the complement of cancer, which is capricorn.

Ambitious, feels pride in accomplishments. Reality, hard facts. Relationship to authority. Serious, determinded, disciplined, focused. Authority figures. Seeks certainties in life. Want things in concrete. Concerned with the practical relationships to support yourself within society.

So here with Vanadium it is not so much the polarity of claiming and abandon (cancer) which is at front, but more the polarity of the totality of cancer with the totality of capricorn.

So with Vanadium there is the struggle with the primordial and the universal part of the zodiac. Alternating between ambition in society (capricorn) and the security of home (cancer).

What is needed is a strong centre, which can take over and bring focus. Here is where the next remedy comes into play, where we enter the individual part of the zodiac in the totality of the ironseries.

Chromium is in stage 6 and is the first remedy from the individual part of the ironseries. The previous stages belonged to the primordial part and missed an individual focus.

The sign that is similar to stage 6 is leo.

Ego development, setting yourself apart from the rest of the world. Self-expression, being true to your inner nature, acting from the heart.

And the complement is aquarius.

Progressive view of things and rarely follow the beaten path. An insatiable urge for discovering that which isn’t known.

Taking this together with the ironseries, being similar to virgo.

Perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional, analytical. Reacts to defeats and setbacks by pulling back and altering approach.

Scholten about stage 6:

They love challenges and even go looking for them. A great need to prove themselves, to show what they can do. If someone challenges them they feel an even greater urge to do it. They have to convince themselves and others that they can do it.

So with Chromium you get an individual who discovers that he has an inner urge (leo) to do things in an unconventional way (aquarius) again and again until he is good enough (virgo).

But the process itself is not something they want others to see. About Chromium in homeopathy and the elements:

Very embarrassed about mistakes, feel very uncomfortable if others see their mistakes. Keep up appearances. Become langwinded about all kind of innocent details.

Manganum is in stage 7 of the ironseries and is in stage as well as in series, similar to virgo.

Problems of adjustment dealing with the world and others. Perfection of the approach to life. Development of mundane skills, ability to change to adapt to life better. Service, helping, perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional.

But also the complement pisces is a well known characteristic.

Compassion and empathy, selfless work. Very receptive, sensitive, even psychic. Co-dependency, care-taking.

Manganum in Homeopathy and the elements.

Want to build out their knowledge and skills. Need a lot of feedback from teacher or guru. Need compliments. Benevolence. Great need to help others. They are very friendly and try to please others. They adjust easily. Inclined to make others feel comfortable, very caring. Sensitive to everything, even clairvoyant. Can bare criticism rather well, can learn from it.

The next three stages repeat the previous ones. The previous three stages where similar to cancer (stage 5), leo (stage 6) and virgo (stage 7). But the emphasis was more on the complements capricorn (high goals), aquarius (challenge) and pisces (benevolence).

With Ferrum in stage 8 of the ironseries, there are the signs cancer and leo. And as a result the compliments capricorn and aquarius.

Words that Scholten uses for stage 8 are:

Persevering, force, pressure, heavy, tension, compress, resistiance, obstruction, through, oppression.

These are all qualities that belong to capricorn and aquarius.

But the difference with the remedy where capricorn also played a role, Vanadium, is that here, with Ferrum there is the combination with leo.

With Vanandium there was the alternation between society (capricorn) and the security of home (cancer).

Here with Ferrum there is the individual focus of leo which makes it a capricorn quality that comes from the inside of the individual. And gives it the power to push through.

And the difference with the remedy where aquarius also played a role, Chromium, is that here with Ferrum, there is the emotional sensitivity of cancer.

And this together with the accomplishment of the task and the critical attitude of the ironseries.

Ferrum in Homeopathy and the elements:

Feeling they have to push through in their work. They push through, go on, no matter how heavy their task is. Very forceful and robust, do not hesitate. It is not so much that they want to practise power, but their task has to be done good. It has to be durable. What they do has to be useful. A heavy task, have to persevere to get it done. Work with great discipline. Hate a bad organisation and disorder. Very sensitive to criticism. See it as obstruction and get very irritated. Have to do their job and can not be distracted and disrupted. Failure because of being too forceful.

Cobaltum is in stage 9 of the ironseries. Like Manganum in stage 7 and like the whole ironseries, stage 9 is similar to virgo.

Embodiment of the individual in the world. Problems of adjustment dealing with the world and others. Perfection of the approach to life. Development of mundane skills, ability to change to adapt to life better. Service, helping, perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional, analytical. Interested in crafts and projects, true to self in a simple, unassuming manner. Reacts to defeats and setbacks by pulling back and altering approach. Lacks confidence in the face of opposition, lives up to duties and responsibilities. Interested in maintaining the body as a fit vehicle.

But along with the perfection and improving of virgo, there is also the insecurity, the isolation and irrational fear of cancer.

Cobaltum misses the confidence and self-expression of leo. Scholten calls it the finishing touch, but they get stuck there and never get to the final completion.

Want to do everything perfect. Have to test everything. Details can give problems. Do not want to make mistakes. Afraid it can all go wrong. Irrational fear, as if they did something wrong, but they do not know what. The feeling easy to make mistakes. Little self-confidence. They know they can do it, but are afraid that it will go wrong. That they will fail. Close, but not yet there. Canceling of a project. The feeling it would have been a failure. Get a black out because of their fears. Typical is give up just before the exam because they think it will go wrong. Feeling of failure before the community. Feel isolated.

With Niccolum we arrive at the top of the ironseries. It is the first remedy where the individual is totally separate from his primordial background. With the 2 previous stages cancer still played a role, but here in stage 10 the emotions are left out. Scholten talks about being cut of from their emotions.

Should not have strong and negative emotions. Think that others will not appreciate their emotions and will not appreciate them if they show those emotions. Hide their negative emotions. Can not feel anything so will not look at emotions. Go on until they do not know anymore what they feel. Do not know what is the matter with them.

The signs that play a role here are leo and virgo. It is the combination of confidence and perfection.

Want to be successful in their work, with their task. There is no doubt about their function. Hard workers. Do their noble duty and want to do that. Are good at it. Want to be the best, at school, at home and at their job. Want to do their job as good as possible, at best perfect, get the best grades at school. Can become haughty. Have to keep themself under control.

But also the compliments aquarius and pisces are seen here.

Restlessness and tense feeling. Do not want to be confronted with something suddenly. Distance to others, no deep relations. Hate being controled. Need to escape of all the rules. Hate bureaucraty, do not hold to rules. Want to go into the wide world. Or go into a complete fantasy world.

Cuprum is in stage 11 of the ironseries, which is similar to libra.

Individual entering into relationship with others, partnership. One-to-one relationships. Meeting others as an equal, interdependency. Encountering repressed part of yourself through others. Going beyond ego boundaries. Peace, harmony, balance, social awareness. Learning how to get along with others, treating others as equals. Art, beauty, harmonious surroundings, distressed by inharmonious interactions. Dialogue, debate, conflict, enemies, justice.

Libra is the first sign above the horizon of the zodiac. With aries the process started with a new moon phase, and here with libra it is full moon, the process turns around.

But now it is in the outside world, and libra represents the ‘other’, as opposed to the ‘me’ of aries.

Libra is the polarity between projecting and ignorance with the final purpose of reflection. And this in the ironseries which is similar to virgo.

Lives up to duties and responsibilities.

So at this point the skills are developed, but now others react to that. And how far do you go in maintaining your own approach.  This might explain the cramping state of Cuprum.

In Homeopathy and the elements:

Very serious. Not want to loose control. Keep emotions under control, stay friendly and kind. Hold on to thoughts. Precise and rigid. Rules have to be followed, than nothing can go wrong. Rules give a sense of safety. Others also have to follow the rules. And if others do not follow the rules they will tell. Need to double-check everything. Everything has to be perfectly tested. Feel a guard of the order and can be very irritated if others disturb that order. Because of the rigid compulsive behaviour they incline to rituals, a meaningless stereotype sequence of proceedings. Superstition. Sensitive to criticism. Very angry if others criticise them, touch them or even look at them. Need to hide and escape. Others have to obey the rules, fulfil their duty and keep their promise.

Zincum is the last remedy in the individual part of the ironseries. It is in stage 12 which is similar to scorpio.

Transformation, change, ego-death, rebirth, transcendence. Intense emotional involvement with the process of personal growth. Movement from individual certainties to the mysteries of life. Spirit breaking through the limitations of the individual ego. Intense, passionate, brooding, magnetic, unyielding, driven by emotions. Stands up for self, usually covertly, manipulates power. Understands deeper layers of the psyche beyond the ego, unable to communicate this well leading to misunderstandings. Intrigued by the dark side of life. The underground, people whose job involves going beneath surface appearances. Breaking free of illusory limitations. Self-mastery.

The individual part of the ironseries started with expression (leo), develop skills to function (virgo) and then reflection (libra) from the outside world. Now with scorpio, the repressed part of the self has to be integrated.

With Zincum this integration goes along with virgo. In Prisma:

Pure zincum obstinately resists attacks, which gives rise to two conflicting philosophical conclusions: the praise of purity, which protects from evil like a coat of mail. And the praise of impurity, which gives rise to changes, in other words, to life. In order for the wheel to turn, for life to be lived, impurities are needed.

Scholten mentions the endless repetitions which result in pollution.

Succeed in their work, but overdo it. Restless. Tics en restless movements. Aggravation when resting. Stressed with study and school. Because of the over-straining of the intellect they can perform very well in the beginning. Later on it can be the other way around, a mental dullness. Learning by repeating endlessly. Repetition and copying can have a huge pollution as a result. More and more of the same. Endless copying. Feeling others obstruct their work. Stubbornness and repeating of old methods makes them go wrong. To hard work leads to failure, which is denied. Guilty after failure, feeling they committed a crime. Feel pushed by superiors and parents.

Here at this point is the transition from the individual part of the zodiac into the universal part, seen in the totality of the ironseries.

The previous transition was the individual becoming separate from his primordial background. It was the transition from the primordial soul (cancer) into the individual spirit (leo).

With this transition the individual soul (scorpio) goes over into the universal spirit (sagittarius). It is the point where the experiences of the individual have to be seen in a bigger whole.

Becoming a member of a wider society. Experiences that lead to consciousness expansion. Being receptive to new points of view, wisdom, enlightenment. Using your talents for the benefit of the greater whole. Freedom loving, idealist, unfetterd by small thinking, inspiration, religion, philosophy, the law. Awareness of connections to the rest of the world, can be distant from others. Afraid to give up freedom, reluctant to be tied down, aware of the value of the social contract. Enthusiastic, generous, loves abstract, theoretical ideas, sees the big picture, ignores the details. In love with an ideal, strong opinion. Foreign travel, liberating experiences.

But with Gallium this is in the limited totality of the ironseries and therefore a limited expression of the sagittarius principle.

Narrow-minded and obstinately attached to their own opinion and intolerant toward others. Often jump to conclusions without taking all factors into consideration.

Gallium is in stage 13 which is the same stage as Boron (carbonseries) and Aluminium  (siliciumseries).

The purpose of sagittarius is to develop a vision after exploring the polarity of judgement and withdrawal. The vision has to go beyond the individual viewpoint.

Gallium in Homeopathy and the elements:

Hold on to their known methods. Can not see other possibilities because they are trapped in their own pattern. See that their pattern does not have optimal results, technique is obsolete and see that others have better results. Can not keep up with new techniques and feel threatened to loose his job to someone younger. Try to hold on, but everything changes. Withdraw on old routines. Nostalgia. Want to do everything their own way. Stay independent. Withdrawing to their own island of self opinionated safety. There is no point in entering a discussion.

The complement is gemini which is about interaction. Instead of judgement and withdrawal there has be an exchange with other visions about individual experiences.

Next remedy of the ironseries is Germanium. It is in stage 14, like Carbon and Silicium, which is similar to capricorn.

Bring about the perfect society. Making practical, efficient connections with others on the physical plane. Ambitious, feels pride in accomplishments. Reality, hard facts. Relationship to authority. Serious, determined, disciplined, focused. Fathering, disciplining love. Authority figures. Seeks certainties in life. Want things in concrete. Concerned with the practical relationships to support yourself within society. Not interested in blue sky ideas, needs to bring theory into concrete reality. Knowing the rules and playing the game.

Stage 14 in Homeopathy and the elements is about an empty shell and wearing a mask.

Lost control. Makes them feel empty, as if all life has drained away. Paced on a side track. Still there for the show, but their real role has come to an end. Masters in changing the subject when things get a bit too close. Al energy has been absorbed. Inclined to hand their responsibility over to others. Hide behind norms and rules. Formal and distant. The outer form becomes more important than what is inside. Great importance to etiquette, protocol, ceremonies and standard procedures. Conventional, conforming to the rules. Cover up all their actions. Only see the outside, a facade, a mask. This mask makes them stiff, reserved, stoic. All you see is an empty shell, the inside has gone. Pretend that nothing is wrong.  Conservative.

This is like the capricorn principle taken too far, without integrating the emotions of the complementary sign of cancer.

Germanium is the combination of capricorn (stage 14) with virgo (ironseries). Scholten talks about a formal profession.

Germanium is the classic type of civil servant. Maintain the order but aren’t really interested. Hiding behind formalities. Work with lots of official forms, so they can be sure they won’t personally be held responsible for anything. Hold back information, hiding behind a mask of perfectionism. Restricted, a prisoner of controlled movement. The outside appearance may still be there, but it is only an empty shell. They are powerless to carry out their task, but they pretend everything is fine and running as normal.

With Kalium we arrive at the ironseries of the periodic table. The previous series of the human development, where about the manifestion of a strong personality in the carbonseries, and learning how to interact with others in the siliciumseries. With Sulphur and Chlorine, the personality transformed into an individual, which acts from an inner source.

Here in the ironseries the duty begins, it is the start of a profession, learn how to accomplish a task. So the central theme of the ironseries is function, the alternation between critical and indifferent.

Kalium is in stage 1, the same as Hydrogen, Lithium and Natrium. It is similar to aries, which is the polarity between irritable and exhaustion. Getting started with a task, impulsive function. Scholten talks about just doing their duty.

Very conscious about their task. They work best alone. Stoic they go their own way, and do not like others to interfere with their task. Naive follow their own routine, which makes them rigid. Not reflect their principles. No need to talk about it, just have to do their job. With their impulsiveness and optimism they can accomplish much. But it can get overdone and lead to failures. They do not think their way of working through.

The complementairy sign of the whole ironseries is pisces. In the first part of the series this is seen in the outside world and in stage 1 this goes together with libra, the complement of aries.

So Kalium has to work hard, because laziness (pisces) and ignorance (libra) are not recognised as a part of the self.

The next remedy of the ironseries is Calcium. It is in stage 2, the same as Beryllium and Magnesium, and is similar to taurus.

Calcium is a combination of two earthsigns with the complement of two watersigns. Earth and watersigns are both passive, which is a well known characteristic of Calcium in homeopathy.

Another important item of Calcium is fear (taurus) of criticism (virgo). In homeopathy and the elements:

Fear of what others might think of them. Especially watched in their work. Afraid that it will not be good enough. The fear that others will not find them good enough, shows in a strong sensitivity for criticism. Undergo the criticism passive, have no defense against it, except closing off. Try to do their work as good as possible, so that nobody can criticise it. Try to cover up their mistakes. The cause is often that others criticised them openly. Feeling that everything has to be done according regulations, inclined to check everything.

The essence of Calcium is the delusion that others will observe their confusion. Confusion is, like laziness, also a form of pisces, the complementary sign of the whole ironseries.

So with Kalium in stage 1 this complement is only seen in the outside world. Here with Calcium in stage 2 there is an awareness of their own inner nature, but not something they want to be part of their personality.

19. Kalium

20. Calcium

Hydrogen is placed in stage 1 of the hydrogenseries. As a result, that gives the connection with aries.

Activity that is selfmotivated, unaffected by others. New beginnings, the start of new cycles, birth, vitality. Agressive, willful, powerful, assertive. Focussed in short bursts, unlikely to sustain interest in the long term. Adventurous, pioneering, worriortype energy, impatient, works best alone. Unconcerned with approval or acceptance. Lacks persistance and stamina. Honest and fortright.

Although this is part of the homeopathic picture of Hydrogen, it is not the whole story. Sherr about the proving of Hydrogen:

We can look at Hydrogen in terms of it being first born, as being both positive and negative and possessing pattern, or structure. It is rewarding to see some of the foregoing aspects emerge in this new proving. Thus we have: ‘I felt in the presence of pure energy’ and ‘I feel I have moved into a different state of consciousness, and there aren’t any guiding posts or means of navigation, a bit like being lost in space’.

There is this presence of pure energy which is certainly aries, but there is also the ‘lost in space’ which is more a quality of pisces.

Surrender to the universe, to higher goals, ego sacrifice. Compassion and empathy, selfless work. Seeing the unity of all things. The ends of cycles, forming seeds for the next cycle of growth. Mysticism, fails to make normal distinctions. Laziness, victim, martyr, servant, tends to escapism. Fantasy, drugs, alcohol, religion. Very receptive, sensitive, even psychic. Co-dependency, caretaking.

So it has to do with ‘moving into a different state of conciousness’, coming from the state of pisces into the state of aries.

Or the universal soul into the primordial spirit.

He also says ‘being both positive and negative and possessing pattern, or structure’.

As can be seen with the two other important changes in human life, puberty and midlife, there is only the potential (spirit and soul) to transform into structure (mind and body).

In the case of Hydrogen this is the transformation from the universal into the primordial state.

Helium is in stage 18 of the hydrogenseries. Stage 18 belongs to the noble gases, which have the maximum number of electrons in their outer shell, making them stable.

Some stages are similar to more than one sign of the zodiac, but stage 18 is similar to none.  It is the end of a series and the beginning of a new one.

Not wanting to do anything and stay inactive, without motion. No need for contact and want to stay apart. Locked in. Not wanting to be disturbed. Denial.

The hydrogenseries again gives the connection with aries.

Helium is the least reactive of the noble gases and thus also the least reactive of all elements. Scholten mentions a connection with autism.

They do not want to go into the world and rather stay in their own world. Not interested in the value and purpose of life. They do not feel any affinity with that, they just live. The stadium of incarnation is over, they accept that they are here and do not doubt that. But they do not want to figure out who they are. They are untouchable because of that, others cannot get a hold of them. It is as with authistic children, they can not be approached. They do not react and stay who they are. You can get no contact.

Here is the start of the carbonseries, where energy gets concentrated and takes a form. It is the first of the series that are reflected by the earth-signs of the zodiac.

The sign that follows aries in the zodiac is taurus.

Grounding, bringing down to earth. Constancy, steadiness, entering matter, taking on a form. Earthy, grounded, in touch with the body. Sensual, pleasure seeking. Stubborn, fixed, stands their ground. Focuses and concentrates energy, gives it concrete expression. Practical, provides stamina and persistance. Slow, steady and methodical.

In the human development it is in the form of the physical body.

This series is the hardest to understand. The reason is that the theme is so general and therefore so vague. Words like ‘life’, ‘body’ and ‘being’ are very general and every problem has its result on the physical body. This level is therefore difficult to separate from other levels.

The whole series has to do with manifestation, which has to find the balance between stubborn and fear.

The complement is a polarisation between manipulation and abuse, which I call integration. Every element in the carbonseries has this theme in its own way.

So Lithium in stage 1 of the carbonseries is called  ’impulsive manifestion’.

Scholten again:

Beginning of self discovery. Cannot decide and busy with details without coming to a conclusion. Just acting impulsive, so often things go wrong. Others do not understand what was meant, or what they do is way overdone. Desillusions. Just try again and again. A sort of trial and error. Prone to the extremes of good and evil. From one extreme into the other. Easy influenced and take over others opinion. Need authorities that can tell them how the world works.

The next remedy in the carbonseries is Beryllium. It is in stage 2 which is similar to taurus, just like the carbonseries itself.

So here it is all about manifestation and the polarity of stubborn and fear will be very present.

All the more the complement (scorpio) will be suppressed and comes from the world outside. So they can be easily manipulated and abused.

Stage 2 in Homeopathy and the elements:

Feeling looked at. Want to be appreciated. Look at the value of things. Have to compare. Insecure and passive. Modest. Adjust easy. Difficult to take their own space. Give away their power. Want to shield. Retract and search for safety. Need to get and also give support. Sense of duality.

And this combined with the personal level gives Beryllium.

So it is all about growing and gaining strength. Integrating the power to become a strong and healthy person.

There is already an awareness of the world outside, but there is no real interaction yet. Interaction is a gemini theme that starts it’s role in the next remedy.

Boron, the remedy that follows in the carbonseries, is in stage 13, which is similar to sagittarius, the universal spirit.

This phase of development is the polarity between judging and withdraw. But this is all in an immature way and on the very personal level of the carbonseries.

Scholten talks about the most extreme expression of Boron as multiple personality disorder.

There is the confusion about themselves, not knowing who they really are yet. Understanding other peoples struggle and the suffering of the world. Not being strong enough, because of the weak ‘I’.

But the compliment is gemini which is about interaction. The interaction that has to take place, to get to know and accept those different personalities.

Carbon ends up in stage 14 of the carbonseries. The astrological similarity is capricorn, the universal body.

Making practical, efficient connections with others on the physical plane. Ambitious, feels pride in accomplishments. Reality, hard facts. Relationship to authority. Serious, determinate, disciplined, focused. Fathering, disciplining love. Authority figures. Seeks certainties in life. Want things in concrete. Concerned with the practical relationships to support yourself within society. Not interested in blue sky ideas, needs to bring theory into concrete reality. Knowing the rules and playing the game.

It is the polarity between formal and depressed on the personal level of the carbonseries.

The purpose of this phase is a constructive manifestation.

Carbon in Homeopathy and the elements:

Stable values. Rigid or labile person. Timidity. Self-value and valuation of life. No inner centre. No reference. Mood-swings, crying, emotional. Need support. Negative self-image. Not want to be disturbed. Traditional. Social valuation. Hard workers. Slow, robust.

He talks about borderline as an extreme expression of Carbon.

That gives the association with cancer, the complimentary sign of capricorn, which has the polarity between claiming and abandon. These are the emotions that have to become part of the personality, instead of being taken over by them. This integration of emotions should result in a person with a strong inner centre.

Nitrogen is the remedy in stage 15 of the carbonseries, which is the polarity between destruction and nervousness. The abstract theme of aquarius, the universal mind, is invention.

Freedom and cooperation between individuals. Free-thinking, unorthodox, far-sighted, idealistic, utopian. Impersonal thinking, detached from emotional considerations. Interested in focusing the mind to formulate new and unusual ways of dealing with people, groups society and the world. Progressive view of things and rarely follow the beaten path. An insatiable urge for discovering that which isn’t known. Or developing that which is known into something which is new, refreshing and completely different.

Here on the personal level of the carbonseries there is the unconventional urge to explore their own personality.

Scholten about Nitrogen:

Expansion of the ego. Assertion. Look confident but there is doubt. Will not show that. Selfconfidence based on support  from others. Expansion of selfvalue. Others should appreciate them. Enthousiastic. Carry out ideas. Pushy. Holding on: tension. Can not relax, although great need to. Explosive. Impatience. Holding on. Many fears. Not forgiving.

The complementary sign is Leo, which is the polarity between arrogant and disrespected. And when it is finally balanced, there is a solid confidence on the personal level.

Oxygen is in stage 16 of the carbonseries, which is similar to pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. The personal development is coming to an end, although there are two more stages before the next series, where the space expands to interact with others.

The abstract ideal of pisces is compassion which has the polarity between laziness and confusion.

Scholten talks about the problem of Oxygen with really coming into life.

Holding on to possession. Trouble finding the balance between giving and taking. They are afraid of loosing their possessions and fearful hold on to them. Or indifferent to possessions. Fear of being selfish. Stay with themselves and outside life. Stay with their inner qualities and look at life from the outside in, without taking part. Complaining, demanding, cannot wait.

The complementary sign is virgo, which has the polarity of critical and indifferent.

The fusion of compassion and function should lead to coming into real life, but staying pure inside.

The elements in stage 17 are called the halogens and are highly reactive. They easily form compounds with other elements, so they are part of many homeopathic pictures in the form of fluoratums, muriaticums, bromiums and iodatums.

They are at the end of each series, after the last sign of the zodiac in stage 16, and before the transformation to a new cycle that belongs to stage 18.

Stage 17 in Homeopathy and the elements:

Releasing is central for this stage. As soon as they see that they cannot hold on to the past, and that letting go is the best thing to do, they are a big step ahead. That is the power of this stage. As long as they fight it, the pain and grief will increase.

In the early development of the series the complementary sign is not well known yet, and seems to come from the world outside. But in the later development of each series, the complement is more a characteristic of the remedy.

In the carbonseries that means that scorpio is very manifest in the later stages. And manipulation and abuse play an important role in those remedies, especially Fluor.

Scholten about Fluor:

The tendency to release all values. Free

and immoral behaviour. Need the glamour

and admiration of others to confirm their

feeling of self-value. It is all about the

beautiful smooth, but hard outside. Take

what they want, without considering others.

Manifest themselves even at the cost of

others. They need contact to fill their own

void. But if the other becomes to strong,

          they go away.

Here is the transition from the carbonseries into the siliciumseries. The manifestation is now completed and must go to interaction.  But with Neon, in stage 18, the transformation gets stuck.

The whole carbonseries is symbolised by taurus, the primordial body, which is the first earth-sign of the zodiac.

Next series is similar to the first air-sign, gemini, the primordial mind.

Neon in Homeopathy and the elements:

They are worth a lot but do not want to get into relations with others. Rather stay with themselves without getting involved. Free of good and evil. Like to be unbound. Without needs. They feel locked up in their selves. Transition of their own inner world to the world of relations.

With Natrium we arrive at the siliciumseries. With the completing of the personality, which took place in the carbonseries, it is now time to interact with other people. The manifestation of a strong personality was the quest of that previous series. The personality symbolised by taurus and it’s strength by the complementary sign, scorpio.

With the siliciumseries the interest in the surrounding world emerges, the world outside the personal space. This part of the human development is similar to the next sign of the zodiac, gemini

Natrium, which is in stage 1 of this sociable and interacting series, is doing that in the characteristic way of aries.

Activity that is self-motivated, unaffected by others. New beginnings, the start of new cycles, birth, vitality. Agressive, willful, assertive. Focussed in short bursts, unlikely to sustain interest in the long term. Adventurous, pioneering, warriour-type energy, impatient, works best alone. Unconcerned with approval or acceptance. Lacks persistance and stamina. Honest and fortright.

Scholten mentions the withdrawal from relationships. Here the complementary signs come into play. Libra, the compliment of aries, has to do with relationships. And sagittarius, the compliment of gemini, has the withdrawal.

Natrium is well known for the silent grief after a relationship.

Going impulsive into relations. Can not reflect on their own behaviour in a relation. Very vulnerable for rejection. Sensitive for the behaviour of the other. Disappointed they withdraw. Give up on relationships. Feeling of a wall between them and the rest of the world. Fixed on one relationship and loosing that, gives an enormous shock.  Withdraw from relations. Don’t like company and consolation. Keep their problems to themself, very closed. No need to talk about their problems.

Aluminium is placed in stage 13 of the siliciumseries, the same stage as Boron in the carbonseries.

The two signs involved are gemini and sagittarius.

The next step in the interaction of the siliciumseries is developing a personal vision. After the polarity of manipulation and abuse from Magnesium, it is now the polarity of judging and withdrawal. Or on a more physical level, the polarity between expansion and retraction.

Aluminium in nature immediately reacts with oxygen and forms clay, which is the Alumina that is mainly used in homeopathy. In Prisma:

Nature seems to expect aluminium to remain clay because the metal is difficult to extract. The key process for fertile soil is the formation of clay.

Expansion might explain the dryness, which is a marked characteristic of Alumina. As clay that has gone to far from its source and dries out.

Alumina in homeopathy is also well known for the confusion about his own identity. Scholten mentions the typical symptome ‘not recognise themselves when they look in the mirror’.

With this confusion they can avoid responsibility. Acting under influence of others. Doing something because others tell them to. Can not decide which ideas to follow.  Always afraid to choose wrong.

The complementary sign is gemini with the polarity between curious and anxious, which is the same theme as the whole siliciumseries is about.

As a result the final purpose of Aluminium is a visionary interaction. That is to interact with other people based on their own opinion.

Silicium is in stage 14 of the siliciumseries, the series of interaction. It is the same stage as Carbon and it is similar to capricorn, which is the polarity between formal and depressed.

The final purpose is construction, making the vision of Aluminium concrete, leading to a constructive interaction.

Capricorn and gemini represent the body and mind. They have to integrate the spirit and soul, which are represented by the complementary signs, cancer and sagittarius.

About Silicea in Prisma:

The conflict between inner and outer life. Too much in the head, not in touch with instinct and feeling, not rooted. Indecision is a big problem. Mind doing one thing and body doing another. Scientific thinking temperament battling with the artistic feeling or intuitive temperament. The split often occurs in the field of relationships with others. The person can be pulled between their own needs and the expectations of others.

Well known is the lack of self-confidence which has to do with interaction and the overworked mental state.

It is a matter of communication, a fear of being unable to find exactly the right words. Seeks for words and has even greater difficulty in expressing his thoughts in writing. Nevertheless he wants to go on working, even though he has reached the limit of his endurance long ago.

Phosphorus is in stage 15 of the siliciumseries, the same stage as Nitrogen. After the construction of a personal vision, it is now time to extend the interaction to new people and new places.

The astrological sign here is aquarius

Freedom and cooperation between individuals. Free-thinking, unorthodox, far-sighted, idealistic, utopian. Impersonal thinking, detached from emotional considerations. Interested in focusing the mind to formulate new and unusual ways of dealing with people, groups, society and the world.

Scholten mentions the many friends, learning and desire to travel.

See someone as a friend even if they only know him shortly. Want to share their friends with other friends. Another aspect of the communication is the use of language. Talking, listening, writing, reading, thinking and learning. Learning especially as an exchange of knowledge, not so much of achieving. Desire travel because of the constant change of people, places and cultures.

Phosphorus is well known for an open mind and sees the whole world as a field of study. This leads to inventive interaction, but it can also go into extremes of nervousness and destruction.

Great susceptibility to external impressions, to light, sound, odors, touch, electrical changes, thunderstorms. Suddenness of symptoms, sudden prostration, shooting pains. Produces a picture of destructive metabolism.

The quality that has to be integrated is the individual spirit. This is leo, the complement of aquarius. Which is about personal expression, and is also the centre of the next homeopathic remedy, Sulphur.

Here at this point is the transition from the primordial into the individual area, which is the centre of the human development.

With Sulphur we arrive at puberty during the human development. Here is the transition from the primordial part of the zodiac into the individual part.

The earth- and airsigns represent the series of the periodic table, while the fire- and watersigns mark the transition between them.

Sulphur is in stage 16 which is the same stage as Oxygen, and shares the similarity with pisces, which resembles here the fantasies and lazyness.

Although still part of the siliciumseries, this part is called Sulphur as a subseries and is very similar to leo, the individual spirit:

Ego development, setting yourself apart from the rest of the world. Becoming your own person. Self-expression, being true to your inner nature, acting from the heart. Dawning awareness of self in relation to others. Ego, self-centred, arrogant. Creative expression. Needs to be center of attention, likes to be noticed and appreciated. Personal integrity, honorable, trustworthy, self-assured, confident.

Expression is the purpose here, but the polarity arrogant and disrespect has to be explored first. Here with Sulphur the individuation process begins:

Individuation is a natural, inherent process in man. It cannot be stimulated by something external, but it grows from the inside. Just as the body can become deformed or sick by lack of nutrition or movement, the personality can be deformed by lack of experience or education.

But also the complementary signs are well known characteristics of Sulphur. The philosophical theorizing (sagittarius) about revolutionary ideas (aquarius) and also the knowledge of many details (virgo).

Chlorine in homeopathy is best known as muriaticum. The picture is very similar to the astrological picture of cancer, the primordial soul.

Scholten talks about the close relationship between mother and child.

It is a relation that has to end sometime, the child has to go it’s own way as an adult.

But also relations in general:

Afraid the other will abandon them or die. Feeling they are abandoned and do not dare to move on in life. Keep brooding about past relations.

Chlorine is in stage 17 which is the same as Fluor. So it is mainly about the polarity between claiming and abandon (cancer) and about holding on and release (stage 17).

The complementary sign (capricorn) also plays an important role here with the polarity between formal and depressed.

The goal is to learn how to use the emotions in a constructive way.

Argon is like Helium and Neon in stage 18, which is the place where one series transforms into another.  With Argon that is the transition from the siliciumseries into the ironseries.

This is at the same time a transformation from the primordial part of the zodiac into the individual part.  This transformation already started with Sulphur, but that was only a potential inner process.

Here it should manifest in the world outside. If this inner process has resulted in an individual, who is convinced of his own creative potential (leo) and can deal with his emotions (cancer), it is now time to become really good at something (virgo).

Duties and responsibilities. Interested in maintaining the body as a fit vehicle.

It is the polarity between critical and indifferent and should result in a function. A function that builds a strong individual who is capable of dealing with the world.

The next remedy is Magnesium in stage 2 of the siliciumseries. After the impulsive interaction of Natrium, we now have the interaction with the polarisation between stubborn and fear.

The purpose of this stage is to come to a manifest interaction, but before that can be accomplished there has to be dealth with manipulation and abuse. The polarity between stubborn and fear belongs to taurus and the polarity between manipulation and abuse to the complementary sign scorpio

This basic principle is the same as it was in the carbonseries, where the whole series can be seen in that light.

The difference here in stage 2 of the siliciumseries, is that it all has to do with the interaction with other people. There is an exchange of forces which has to be handled with flexibility instead of being to static.

Vermeulen in Prisma about the role of Magnesium in the body:

Magnesium deficiency reduces offensive aggressive behaviour but increases defensive aggressive behaviour. Lower levels of magnesium supplementation increase the number of attacks on intruders while higher levels have the opposite effect.

Magnesium in Homeopathy and the elements:

The essential question is where they are in the relation and where the other. How to stand up for yourself and at the same time keep the relation good. Fear that the relation will be broken. To avoid that, they do not defend their own space. Avoidance of aggression can become an ideal. Becoming a pacifist.

Arsenicum album is one of the best known remedies in homeopathy. The picture comes from Arsenic trioxide, which is Arsenicum (ironseries, stage 15) and Oxygen (carbonseries, stage 16).

This means an emphasis on the astrological signs virgo (ironseries and complement of stage 16) and pisces (stage 16 and complement of ironseries).

These explain the fastidiousness and tidiness (virgo) and the decline and decay (pisces).

The other signs that play a role with Arsenicum album are taurus (carbonseries), aquarius (stage 15), scorpio (complement carbonseries) and leo (complement stage 15). These explain the possessiveness and many fears (taurus), the extreme restlessness and destructive processes (aquarius), the obsession and suspicion (scorpio) and the selfishness (leo).

The picture of pure Arsenicum is a combination of virgo (ironseries) and aquarius (stage 15).

It is in the same stage as Nitrogen and Phosphorus. Stage 15 is the polarity between destructive and nervousness (aquarius).

And the ironseries is the polarity between critical and indifferent (virgo).

The final purpose is inventive function.

Accomplished by integrating the complementary signs leo (expression) and pisces (compassion).

2. Helium

5. Boron

3. Lithium

33. Arsenicum

37. Rubidium

With Bromium the ironseries is coming to an end. It is in stage 17 like Fluor and Chlorum. Stage 17 is about finding the balance between holding on and release. With Bromium it is about the release of the function.

Perfection of the approach to life. Development of mundane skills, ability to change to adapt to life better. Service, helping, perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional, analytical. Reacts to defeats and setbacks by pulling back and altering approach. Lacks confidence in the face of opposition, lives up to duties and responsibilities.

The individual has become as skilled and perfect as possible, up to the point where it would go at the cost of others. This might explain the guilt, because of doing things totaly ‘my way’.

The complement pisces plays an important role here.

The polarity of pisces can be seen between laziness and confusion, but also between deceive and disappear. Scholten talks about guilt and escape.

Have to let the work go. Because of a disease, their age, or are dismissal. A typical situation is that of pension. Would like to go on, find it difficult to sit still, want to have something to do. Or can not release the work and are convicted to work. Guilt because not doing their work or duty. Feeling they are disapproved and convicted. Can not stand being watched. Think they will be found guilty. Tendency to escape. Feel haunted, by people or ghosts. In the most extreme case they become psychotic. Sit quiet, just stare, or are restless with their hands. Delusion that God wants to punish him.

This religious side is also a characteristic of pisces, which has the final purpose of compassion.

Krypton is about the transition to the second half of the zodiac, here we are coming above the horizon. Next is the silverseries which is similar to libra. It is the point of full moon, now the process is turning around again.

Libra is the logical follow up of virgo and therefore the sign that goes with the silverseries. It also fits the observations of Scholten who talks about the silverseries as art and esthetics. But he also talks about ideas and inspiration, which belongs to sagittarius, the universal spirit.

So libra as well as sagittarius seem to belong to the silverseries. But the problem is that they are not next to each other in the zodiac. There is a sign in between those two, scorpio. Scorpio does not fit here, but it is perfect for the lanthanides.

So with scorpio/sagittarius is the same difficulty as there was with cancer/leo. Although cancer comes before leo in the zodiac, the similar remedies are the other way around in the periodic table, first Sulphur and then Chlorum.

And the same here, sagittarius belonging to the silverseries and scorpio belonging to the lanthanides.

So it is as if the spirit is going to the new area (from primordial to individual in puberty and from individual to universal in midlife) and the soul to follow takes a longer time.

But with Krypton it is not so far yet. It is in stage 18 of the ironseries and therefore it is the phase of rest before going over to ‘the other’ (libra).

Stage 18 in general:

Rest, a pause before the start of a new cycle. Just want to stay in one place and do nothing. Locked up in their isolated condition. The experiences of the previous cycle are internalised and integrated.

With Krypton this is the transition from the ironseries to the silverseries. Or from virgo to libra/sagittarius. Or from function to reflection and vision.

Do not want to look at their work yet, what could be changed. They took a distance from the routinework, but do not want to be occupied yet with the speciality. No need yet to leave their practical, pragmatic attitude.

Rubidium is the first remedy of the silverseries. The silverseries as a whole is similar to libra, which has the polarity between projecting and ignorance, with the purpose of reflection.

Individual entering into relationship with others, partnership. One-to-one relationships. Meeting others as an equal, interdependency. Encountering repressed part of yourself through others. Going beyond ego bounderies. Peace, harmony, balance, social awareness. Learning how to get along with others, treating others as equals. Art, beauty, harmonious surroundings, distressed by inharmonious interactions. Dialoque, debate, conflict, enemies, justice.

But it is also similar to sagittarius, which has the polarity between judging and withdrawal, with the purpose of vision.

Experiences that lead to consciousness expansion. Being receptive to new points of view, wisdom, enlightenment. Using your talents for the benefit of the greater whole. Freedom loving, idealist, unfetterd by small thinking, inspiration, religion, philosophy, the law. Enthusiastic, generous, loves abstract, theoretical ideas, sees the big picture, ignores the details. In love with an ideal, strong opinion. Foreign travel, liberating experiences.

Rubidium is in stage 1 (like Hydrogen, Lithium, Natrium and Kalium) which is similar to aries.

Honest and fortright.

So the abstract theme of Rubidium is impulsive reflection and vision.

Aries and libra are each others complements, so they both also play a role as complemantary signs, libra as complement of stage 1 and aries as complement the silverseries. The other complement of the silverseries is gemini.

Scholten about Rubidium.

Spontanious inspiration. Start all kinds of new artistic or scientific projects. Want to be unique, create something special. Create something completely new. Come to the core of things. Do not get derived. Can not reflect on their ideas. All kind of ideas emerge, but they have no overview. Ideas and creations are not reflected on enough. Not very diplomatic.

Strontium is in stage 2 of the silverseries. It is the same stage as Beryllium, Magnesium and Calcium. The astrological sign of stage 2 is taurus.

Practical, provides stamina and persistence. Slow, steady, methodical.

Taurus is the polarity between stubborn and fear, here in the silverseries, on reflection (libra) of their own vision (sagittarius).

In Homeopathy and the elements.

Feeling that everyone around them sees how they think, what their ideas are and how their talents are developed. Very insecure about their creativity. Notice all ideas of others and compare them to those of themselves. Or judging the ideas of others. Thinking about their inner being, where they come from and where they are going. Are they worth something, are they unique, do they have something special to offer. Easily feel taken over by the way of living and ideas of others. Feel at the mercy of others and can not resist them. Undergo them passive and adjust. Overwhelmed by the images and occurrings in the world. Others walk over them, push them and force their ideas on them. Totally adjust and do everything the other says. Inclined to withdrawal to the judgements, because they can not stand up to them. No inner criteria and therefore go by the value judgements of others. Adjust, rather stay unnoticed than to attract attention with the danger of being judged. Aversion of ordinairy conversations. Stay in their own world of thoughts. Become stubborn, but without expressing that. Hold on to their own ideas.

The final purpose of Strontium is a manifest reflection and vision. But first there has to be the integration of scorpio.

Transformation, change, ego-death, rebirth, transcendence. Intense emotional involvement with the proces of personal growth.

38. Strontium

Next remedy in the silverseries is Yttrium. It is in stage 3, the same stage as Scandium in the ironseries.

After the impulsive reflection and vision of Rubidium in stage 1, and the manifest reflection and vision of Strontium in stage 2, there is the interactive reflection and vision of Yttrium in stage 3 of the silverseries.

Stage 3 is similar to gemini.

Clever, curious, communication. Making connection with surroundings. Trying to figure out, intelligence. Talkative, sociable, loves to interact with others on a superficial level. Unemotional, impersonal, ruled by rationality. Requires great mental stimulation. Playful, inconstant, attention easily drifts so something new, seeks novelty.

Gemini has the polarity between curious and anxious, with the purpose of interaction.

Gemini is also the complement of sagittarius, which is similar to the whole silverseries (together with libra), so the characteristics of gemini are an important part of Yttrium.

Scholten about Yttrium.

Doubting what they want to create. Investigating. Follow all kinds of education. Comparing. Not dare to really choose something out of fear to choose the wrong thing. Not dare to bring something new. Searching what they will do. Changeable. Busy with all kind of things, but get nothing finished. Want to get inspiration. Not showing what they create. Try outs. Not dare to stand up for their designs. Not dare to be different, afraid to fall outside the group, to be an outsider. Discover potential in themselves, but doubt if it is really possible. Easily discouraged. Undervalue their own talents. Stop easily. Think others can do better. Communication difficult.

39. Yttrium

With Zirconium we arrive at stage 4 of the silverseries, which is between the signs gemini (stage 3, interaction) and cancer (stage 5, emotion).

Stage 4 has the characteristics of both and can be described as doubleminded. The rational decision (gemini) and the actual experience (cancer).

It is the same stage as Titanium in the ironseries. Here with Zirconium it is on the level of the silverseries, which is about reflection (libra),

Harmony, balance, social awareness. Learning how to get along with others, treating others as equals. Art, beauty, harmonious surroundings, distressed by inharmonious interactions.

and vision (sagittarius).

Being receptive to new points of view, wisdom, enlightenment. Using your talents for the benefit of the greater whole. Freedom loving, idealist, unfetterd by small thinking, inspiration, religion, philosophy, the law.

So Zirconium is the struggle between mind (gemini) and soul (cancer) in the series about art (libra) and inspiration (sagittarius).

In Homeopathy and the elements.

Start with a creative career. Opening their own practise, or the first official exposition. All kind of new ideas and want to carry them out. Want to establish their inspiration. At the beginning of something new and unique and want to get credit for that. Want to declare their ideas, give them a form. Want to break through the old known routine patterns. Want there to be room for creative impulses. Hate to adjust, want to have the freedom to develop their own ideas. Also insecure and hesitating. Can the inspiration be brought into practise. Often fail if they begin with the practise of their inspiration. Become insecure and collaps.

40. Zirconium

Niobium is in stage 5 of the silverseries. Cancer is the next sign in the development of the silverseries and is about emotions. In the case of Niobium that are the emotions that have to do with  reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius).

Like with Vanadium, the complementary sign of stage 5, capricorn, plays an important role here.

Ambitious, feels pride in accomplishments. Relationship to authority. Serious, determinded, disciplined, focused. Seeks certainties in life. Concerned with the practical relationships to support yourself within society.

Scholten talks about being stuck in preparations because of their own high demands.

Need to make their talents successful. Not realistic and high demands about their artistic possibilities. Being creative has become an assignment. Stuck in preparations. Think things through to much, want to reflect everything. Difficult to receive compliments and admiration. Feeling they have not contributed anything yet. Changeable moods, one time they are cheerful, the next time they are serious and sad. Want to be very good, but miss the perseverence to bring their creations to a good end. Can not bear authority. Easily hurt. Vulnerable, get an armour. Act like they do not care. Protect themselves. Envy those who are succesful. Great aspirations and ambition. Want to be the best. Have a reputation and dignity to maintain. Fear of being hurt and fear of acting superior.

So it is the alternation of ambition (capricorn) and vulnerability (cancer) in the area of art (libra) and inspiration (sagittarius).

41. Niobium

Molybdenum is the first remedy from the individual part of the silverseries. After the primordial spirit, body, mind and soul, we now get to the individual spirit (leo).

Ego development, setting yourself apart from the rest of the world. Becoming your own person. Self-expression, being true to your inner nature, acting from the heart. Dawning awareness of self in relation to others.

And together with that, the complement aquarius.

Progressive view of things and rarely follow the beaten path. An insatiable urge for discovering that which isn’t known. Or developing that which is known into something which is new, refreshing and completely different.

Molybdenum is in stage 6, the same as Chromium. Scholten calls it the initiation, the fire walk. Not an exercise but the real thing.

Challenge to do something creative. Initiated in their own creativity. Not open for others, turn inside to unite all their strength for their performance. Wilful and dominating. Not want to burden others with something they see as a personal challenge. Have to do it all by themselves. Prove they can show their ideas. Feeling forced to be creative. Point of no return. Can not go back and do not dare to go on. Pressure themselves, by taking assignments. Force themselves to be creative. Want to remain free, go their own way. Appear very proud. Great fear they will not succeed, afraid to loose their face. Prefer not to show what they are doing, but try out first. While challenged they get triggerd to perform. Work has to speak for itself. Not want to explain it. Hide their aspirations, because they still have to earn the fame. Cautious. Doubt if they will ever succeed to make something creative, that will be worth something. Afraid to fail and if they fail they feel it as a humiliation.

With Technetium the theme of the silverseries becomes concrete. While going through the ironseries, the focus was on learning skills in order to survive in the world as an individual. In the silverseries as a whole, it is about reflection of those skills and convince others of their quality.

Here in stage 7 the focus is on function. It is the same stage as Manganum and is similar to virgo.

So the reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius) have to become functional (virgo).

The complement is pisces which is about giving up the controle.

Scholten mentions the incompatibility of being unique and cooperate.

Practise in methods of presentation. Desire lessons in creativity. Need feedback. Want to improve talents, find a better shape for inspiration. Sharpen theory with experiments. Need of guru. Also like criticism, as long as it is constructive and improving. Want to cooperate with others. Keep helping others instead of finding their own inspiration. The uniqueness of inspiration and creation does not go together with cooperation with others. Fail because they get stuck in techniques. Creations have quality, but there is no real inspiration. Have the best technique, but miss the real ambition to win. Keep improving their technique, but that is why it does not get an inbuild skill, that can be used automatically.

Next remedy in the silverseries is Ruthenium. It is in stage 8 and, like in the ironseries, stage 8, 9 and 10 repeat the transition from the primordial part of the zodiac into the individual part.

Stage 8 is a repetition of the primordial soul and individual spirit (cancer/leo), stage 9 the repetition of the primordial soul and individual body (cancer/virgo) and stage 10 the individual spirit and individual body (leo/virgo).

Until this point in the silverseries we got: impulsive (stage 1, aries), manifest (stage 2, taurus), interactive (stage 3, gemini), interactive/emotional (stage 4 gemini/cancer), emotional (stage 5, cancer), expressive (stage 6, leo) and functional (stage 7, virgo) reflection (silverseries, libra) and vision (silverseries, sagittarius).

So with stage 8 we have the potential (spirit and soul) transition into the individual part of the silverseries. After the technical perfection of the previous stage (stage 7, virgo), here in stage 8 the past experiences (cancer) and inner nature (leo) make this an essential phase.

The complimentary signs provide determination (capricorn) and progression (aquarius).

In Homeopathy and the elements:

Feeling that they have to force themselves to bring what they want to bring. There has to be done a lot of work. Feel a lot of pressure, have to persevere. Find the strenght in themselves to go  on. Very courageous and independent. Want to convince others that they are right, want their ideas to find a way in. Not get distracted by minor problems or objections. Experience their inspiration as a pressure, as something that can only be realised with much effort. Experience the circumstances as opposing. Project the pressure they build up within theirselves on others that do not cooperate. Feeling opposed while they just have to push through. Force themselves and do not rest in time.

Rhodium is the remedy of stage 9. The signs that belong to that stage are cancer and virgo. It is the next step after the experiences (cancer) of the inner nature (leo) in stage 8.

Here in stage 9 it is about experience (cancer) and perfection (virgo), which can easily go into insecurity and criticism. And as this is the silverseries, the insecurity (cancer) and criticism (virgo) are a reflection (libra) on their own vision (sagittarius).

The complementary signs of stage 9 are capricorn and pisces. So serious and ambitious (capricorn) as well as a tendency to escape (pisces).

Scholten mentions the focus on the finishing touch.

Almost there, almost reached the top. Make the final steps and then it is finished. Want to test everything for the last time before the official performance. With the final rehearsal there can be made minor improvements. Although everything is right for a good performance, they stay afraid that it will go wrong. Cancel the performance out of fear that it will be a fiasco. Very nervous, especially just before the performance. Afraid to make an error that will fade away all the preparations of years. Possibilities to become the best, but get stuck in this phase and always be second best.

With Palladium we arrive at stage 10 of the silverseries. The silverseries, with the focus on reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius), has come to the top with the individual spirit (leo),

Ego development, setting yourself apart from the rest of the world. Becoming your own person. Self-expression, being true to your inner nature, acting from the heart. Dawning awareness of self in relation to others. Ego, self-centred, arrogant. Artistic or creative expression. Needs to be a center of attention, likes to be noticed and appreceated, ego-strokes. Personal integrity, true to self, honorable, trustworthy, self-assured, confident.

and the individual body (virgo).

Embodiment of the individual in the world. Problems of adjustment dealing with the world and others. Perfection of the approach to life. Development of mundane skills, ability to change to adapt to life better. Perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional, analytical. Reacts to defeats and setbacks by pulling back and altering approach. Interested in maintaining the body as a fit vehicle.

So before going over to the individual mind and soul in the next two stages, here is a culmination of the individual spirit and body.

Scholten gives the essence of success in performing art.

Manage to show themselve. Know what they are worth and what they can do, and trust that they can bring that over to others. Enough inspiration to be successful. Like to perform and like to be the centre of attention. Like attention and compliments. Like to hear that they did well and like to be flatterd. Need to be praised. Not only like to see that they are the best, they also want others to say and show it. Their position asks for confirmation. So convinced of their talents and creativity that they become pride. Talk with an air, as from someone who is successful. Like to be admired in company. Keep the party going, but get home alone, exhausted afterwards. Should be honoured, but doubt if others know that. Hurt if they are not in the centre of attention.

44. Ruthenium

45. Rhodium

46. Palladium

Argentum is in stage 11 of the silverseries. It is in the same stage as Cuprum, and it is the first stage that has an exchange with others on an individual level. In series as well as in stage it is similar to libra, the individual mind.

And sagittarius, the universal spirit as the other part of the silverseries.

Becoming a member of a wider society. Using your talents for the benefit of the greater whole. Awareness of connections to the rest of the world, can be distant from others. Aware of the value of the social contract. Enthusiastic, generous, loves abstract, theoretical ideas, sees the big picture, ignores the details. In love with an ideal, strong opinion.

In Prisma:

Argentum makes good public speakers, persons who lecture using logic and intellect, rather than what they really felt or experienced. The Argentum situation is one where the person has to perform intellectually and express himself through speech, singing, writing and also has to defend himself by intellect, speech and words.

So there is to much emphasis on the mind. Again in Prisma:

Inability to think. Cannot think properly. Reasoners come to the point when they can no longer reason, and the slightest mental effort brings on vertigo. For a moment appearing to be very intens and active in mind, and forgets all that he was talking about. Tired mentally and he forgets all that he was talking about. Loses the thread of his discourse and dreads to talk because he gets complaints while talking. If compelled to answer, he becomes dizzy, and feels strange all over, and has nervous shakes and shocks.

Scholten calls it the maecenas.

Hold on to their successful position, want to continue their success. Protect art, want literature and art preserved for the offspring. Conservative, want to keep what has proven itself. Delicate, inner civilisation. Not like to talk about their inferior feeling. Fear intimicy because then the civil behaviour falls away. Fearful to talk in public and for the camera. Become cramping and nervous. Can not be themselves, because they have to reflect an old standard. No solid ground under their feet. Nervousness expresses in their voice, hoarse.

The complement of libra is aries, which has to be integrated.

Activity that is self-motivated, unaffected by others. Unconcerned with approval or acceptance. Honest and fortright.

Along with gemini, the complement of sagittarius.

Clever, curious, communication. Playful, inconstant, attention easily drifts so something new, seeks novelty.

Cadmium is the last remedy of the individual part of the silverseries. It is in stage 12, the same as Zincum in the ironseries. After the individual mind of the previous stage, stage 12 is about the individual soul. The phase where logic and reason are no longer enough, where the individual has to look inside, investigate his own soul. The sign that reflects that process is scorpio.

Transformantion, change, ego-death, rebirth, transcedence. Intense emotional involvement with the proces of personal growth.

Scholten talks about overshooting the mark.

Make creations that are not appreciated by the public. Vision is excessive. Feeling that others do not understand it. Lost in all kind of ideas and creations. Trapped in their success, exaggerate where they did have success with. Make everything very dramatic, become theatrical and act bizar. Everything has to be extravagant. More of the same. Reproductions of what should be unique. Keep producing on behalf of the production, inside it is empty. Pollution with all kinds of meaningless publications. Feeling that people are against them and oppose them. See enemies everywhere. Get resistance because of their suspicious and stubborn behaviour. Criticise others and distract the criticism on themselves, diversionary tactic. Decline of infuence, become powerless. Overwhelmed by enemies and circumstances. Feel thrown away by forces they can not controle and feel locked up in old patterns.

So here it is about integrating (scorpio) the vision (sagittarius) of the other (libra).

The first remedy from the universal part of the silverseries is Indium. Indium is in stage 13 which is the same stage as Boron (carbonseries), Aluminium (siliciumseries) and Gallium (ironseries). The astrological sign here is sagittarius, the universal spirit.

Experiences that lead to consciousness expansion. Freedom loving, idealist, unfetterd by small thinking, inspiration, religion, philosophy, the law. Awareness of connections to the rest of the world, can be distant from others. Afraid to give up freedom, reluctant to be tied down. Enthusiastic, generous, loves abstract, theoretical ideas, sees the big picture, ignores the details. In love with an ideal, strong opinion. Foreign travel, liberating experiences.

The emphasis on sagittarius is very strong here, as it is also part of the whole silverseries. Here it becomes more and more clear that sagittarius can not reach its full potential. The silverseries is similar to libra and sagittarius, but they do not follow each other in the zodiac.

The sign in between is scorpio, and although it has played its part in the stages (stage 12), it is not part yet of the human development as a whole. That will not happen until going into the goldseries, where stage 3 has a hidden development with the lanthanides.

So the universal part of the silverseries is about projecting (libra) a vision (sagittarius) on the rest of the world, without the inner development of the individual. And with Indium the vision will be very present, as it is the intersection of sagittarius in  series as well as in stage.

In Homeopathy and the elements it says dogmatic, withdraw on ideas.

Perfect conservators, people who are at their place in museums. Want others to also see that it has been done much beter in the old days. Collect antique. Have seen it all, do not need to hear something new. Have their mind made up, are dogmatic and know it all better. New ideas are not for them. Stay behind with the new developments. Disbelief in possibilities of development. Hold on to the old ways. Can not wonder anymore, because everything is well known already. Sometimes an old piece emerges that can make them enthousiatic, but mostly they live with the feeling they all seen it before. Withdraw in their ivory tower. Others do not understand it, so why would they want to try to convince them, who is interested must come to them. Watch with disbelief how new talents get the attention of the public.

And although the vision will not be a result of an inner battle yet, it does need its complement gemini to come to an interaction with other visions.

Stannum is in stage 14 of the silverseries. It is the same stage as Carbon, Silicium and Germanium and is similar to capricorn.

Not interested in blue sky ideas, needs to bring theory into contrete reality. Knowing the rules and playing the game.

Capricorn has the polarity between formal and depressed with the purpose of construction. In the silverseries it is a construction that has to do with reflection and vision.

Scholten calls them civil and polite, which can be translated as formal (capricorn) reflecting (libra) a vision (sagittarius).

Do not have any real authority anymore. Just marginal designs. Lost glory, grandeur and fame. Loss of honour, fortune and possessions. Formal in their visions and philosophies. Worn out. See something in every ideology. Hate dogmatic ideas, like to discuss their own vision with others. Show formal in public. Not take responsibility. Not dare to take a stand out of fear to get rejected. Try to spare everyone. Think along with others. Benevolent, civil and polite. Courteous, can go along with the ideaworld of the other. Good at distracting from problems. So powerless that they keep agreeing. Tired of talking, it is not their own expression. Art is only an empty shell, a form without meaning. Feel insulted inside, but act as if they do not care and stay polite.

The complement is cancer, so here the emotions have to be integrated.

47. Argentum

48. Cadmium

49. Indium

50. Stannum

Antimonium is in stage 15 of the silverseries. It is in the same stage as Nitrogen (carbonseries), Phosphorus (siliciumseries) and Arsenicum (ironseries). The astrological sign that belongs to stage 15 is aquarius.

Aquarius in the zodiac follows capricorn which is about rules, borders and staying within the known. Aquarius is about breaking the rules and going beyond the known.

With Antimonium it is about breaking the rules in the area of the silverseries, which have to do with reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius).

Aquarius is the universal mind, it is no longer about personal matters, everything has to be seen in the light of the whole. But things can go to far out of line and become totally distant from the individual. This is where the complement of leo has to be integrated.

Ego development, setting yourself apart from the rest of the world. Becoming your own person. Self-expression, being true to your inner nature, acting from the heart. Dawning awareness of self in relation to others. Ego, self-centred, arrogant. Artistic or creative expression. Needs to be a center of attention, likes to be noticed and appreciated, ego-strokes. Personal integrity, true to self, honorable, trustworthy, self-assured, confident.

Next in the silverseries is Tellurium. Like Oxygen, Sulphur and Selenium it is in stage 16, which is similar to pisces.

After breaking free in the stage of aquarius, the stage of pisces is about unity. It is the universal soul, so it is also beyond the individual, but it is not rational anymore. With aquarius, the universal mind, there is a conscious exchange with the whole world. Pisces, the universal soul, is becoming one with the whole world.

The final goal is compassion, but first there is the polarity of lazyness and confusion. Lazy and confused (pisces) about reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius). The phase of surrender in the totality of the silverseries.

The complement is virgo which has to be integrated.

Iodium is in stage 17 of the silverseries. Like the other remedies in stage 17, Fluor, Chlorine and Argon, it is the phase of releasing. Here the complementary sign is more prominent then in the previous stages. In the silverseries that is not one complement, but two. The complements of libra and sagittarius, which are aries,

Activity that is self-motivated, unaffected by others. New beginnings, the start of new cycles, birth, vitality. Aggressive, willful, assertive. Focused in short bursts, unlikely to sustain interest in the long term. Adventurous, pioneering, warrior-type energy, impatient, works best alone. Unconcerned with approval or acceptance. Lacks persistance and stamina. Honest and fortright.

and gemini.

So with Iodium it is about releasing the reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius) of the silverseries and discover the impulsion (aries) and interaction (gemini). By exploring the polarity of those two principles (from irritable to exhaustion and from curious to anxious) the purpose is to find the balance between reflection (libra) and impulsion (aries) and between vision (sagittarius) and interaction (gemini).

In both complements the spirit and mind are involved, libra (individual mind) and aries (primordial spirit) along with sagittarius (universal spirit) and gemini (primordial mind). What misses here is the body and soul which are going to play a prominent role in the next series, the goldseries (universal body) and the lanthanides (individual soul).

The challenge here is to reflect (mind, libra) on impulses (spirit, aries) and to use vision (spirit, sagittarius) interactive (mind, gemini). Or use intuition (spirit) logical (mind).

Xenon is the last remedy from the silverseries. It is in stage 18, the same stage as Helium (hydrogenseries), Neon (carbonseries), Argon (siliciumseries) and Krypton (ironseries). It is the phase of transformation, the transformation from the silverseries into the goldseries.

Now it gets more complicated as this has to be the transition from libra and sagittarius (silverseries) to capricorn (goldseries). The difficulty is getting more prominent now, as scorpio still did not have its place and will not get it until stage 3 in the goldseries, where the lanthanides are hidden.

With Xenon the reflection of libra is incorporated and already a characteristic of the personality. There is no desire yet for construction, which is a characteristic of the goldseries. But also the vision of sagittarius is not incorporated yet, because it is a vision that is not yet based on a personality that is whole. Without the individual soul there is not yet a strong and powerful individual that is his own master. And as a result the vision is still limited.

This is a phase of rest, a pause before the start of a new cycle. A cycle that is more complicated than all previous ones. There is a cycle within a cycle, the lanthanides that are hidden within the goldseries, where finally the characteristics of scorpio can become part of the personality.

52. Tellurium

53. Iodium

54. Xenon

Caesium is the first remedy of the goldseries. The goldseries as a whole is similar to capricorn.

Caesium is in stage 1, the same stage as Hydrogen, Lithium (carbonseries), Natrium (siliciumseries), Kalium (ironseries) and Rubidium (silverseries).

Stage 1 is similar to aries.

Lacks persistence and stamina. Honest and forthright.

The purpose of Caesium is impulsive construction, but first the polarity of irritable and exhaustion has to be explored.

The complement of aries is libra, so there is also projecting and ignorance.

With the goldseries the projecting and ignorance will have to do with emotions, as cancer is the complement of the whole goldseries.

Still there is a role for the vision of sagittarius, because that did not get its place yet. And along with that the polarity of judging and withdrawal.

55. Caesium

Barium is in stage 2 of the goldseries. It is in the same stage as Beryllium (carbonseries), Magnesium (siliciumseries), Calcium (ironseries) and Strontium (silverseries). Barium, like Calcium is similar to two earthsigns. But unlike Calcium, none of those two belongs to the individual part of the zodiac. The goldseries is similar to capricorn, the universal body and stage 2 is similar to taurus, the primordial body.

Practical, provides stamina and persistence. Slow, steady, methodical.

The goal of taurus is manifestation, but at first there is the polarity between stubborn and fear. And in the case of Barium, stubborn and fear in the area of the goldseries, which itself has the polarity of formal and depressed with the final purpose of construction.

The complements are cancer, the primordial soul and scorpio, the individual soul. So there is the polarity of claiming and abandon (cancer) and the polarity of manipulate and abuse (scorpio).

Together with that there is still the judgement and withdrawal of sagittarius, here with the passive body and soul signs. One of the soul signs, cancer will play a role as the complement of the whole goldseries. And scorpio, the other soulsign is going to play a major role in the series that is under the surface of the goldseries. It is one of the most difficult but also one of the most rewarding processes in the human development.

Scorpio is the last phase of the individuation process, that started with leo, the individual spirit, that discovered its own unique quality. But this unique quality is useless, if it is not made available for the benefits of the world as a whole. And as long as the individual has no knowledge of his own subconscious drives, he is likely to use his power on others instead of using it for his inner development. Getting to know and master yourself, to become capable and powerful to serve the world.

56. Barium

With Lanthanum we arrive at one of the most intriguing places in the periodic table.  It is in stage 3 which is similar to gemini.

Clever, curious, communication. Making connection with surroundings. Trying to figure out, intelligence. Requires great mental stimulation. Playful, inconstant, attention easily drifts so something new, seeks novelty.

So the essence of stage 3 is interaction. It is interaction in the whole of the goldseries which is about construction (capricorn).

But at the same time it is the place where scorpio has to play its role.

The silverseries were about reflection and vision (libra and sagittarius) but the integration (scorpio) still has to take place.

So along with the interaction of gemini, in stage 3 of the goldseries, there is the integration of scorpio.

Transformation, change, ego-death, rebirth, transcendence. Intense emotional involvement with the proces of personal growth. Movement from individual certainties to the mysteries of life.

So here we have gemini together with scorpio and those together with their complements sagittarius and taurus give the characteristics for the lanthanides.

In Scholten’s Secret Lanthanides.

Autonomy. Inner world. Truthseekers. Shadow. Bright. Mindpower. Concentration. Selfworth.

In the zodiac it is the transition from the individual into the universal part.

The transition from the primordial into the individual part took place in puberty. There it was the expression of the individual spirit (sulphur, leo) that came into play just before the emotions of the primordial soul (chlorine, cancer) found its place.

Here at this point in the human development, at midlife, the vision of the universal spirit (silverseries, sagittarius) comes into play just before the integration of the individual soul (lanthanides, scorpio).

So here again, the next part (universal) started before the previous part (individual) was completed. And the completion of the individual takes its time. A whole series of its own, beneath the surface of the goldseries, in the form of the lanthanides.

Cerium is the second remedy of the lanthanides and is in stage 4, the same stage as Titanium (ironseries) and Zirconium (silverseries). Stage 4 is the combination of the signs gemini and cancer, the primordial mind and soul.

Titanium was struggling with the rational decision (gemini) and the actual experience (cancer) in the area of the function (ironseries), while Zirconium had that same struggle with reflection and vision (silverseries).

Cerium is a combination of mind and soul alone, the primordial mind (gemini, stage 4 and lanthanides) together with the primordial soul (stage 4, cancer) and individual soul (lanthanides, scorpio).

Here in stage 4 is the phase of interaction (gemini) and emotion (cancer) in the totality of the lanthanides, which is about interactive (gemini) integration (scorpio).

Scholten mentions two remarkable symptoms of Cerium.

Feeling of not being in contact with the world, and do things without trial and error but by practising in their mind.

Praseodymium is the last remedy in the primordial part of the lanthanides. It is in stage 5, the same stage as Vanadium (ironseries) and Niobium (silverseries). The astrological sign here is cancer, the primordial soul.

Stage 5 has the polarity between claiming and abandon with the purpose of stable emotions. But in order to get stable, the complement capricorn has to be integrated. Capricorn has the polarity of formal and depressed with the purpose of construction.

So Praseodymium in stage 5 is the phase of achieving stable emotions in the process of interactive (gemini) integration (scorpio) which is the goal of the lanthanides as a whole.

In Secret Lanthanides it is about  a cautious quality.

Hesitant, not daring to do what they feel their own plan. Keep looking from which side problems can arise.

With Neodymium we arrive at the individual part of the lanthanides. It is in stage 6, the same stage as Chromium (ironseries) and Molybdenum (silverseries), which is similar to leo, the individual spirit.

Stage 6 has the polarity between arrogant and disrespected with the purpose of expression. But this expression needs the complement of aquarius which has the polarity between destructive and nervousness but with the purpose of invention.

Freedom and cooperation between individuals. Free-thinking, unorthodox, far-sighted, idealistic, utopian. Impersonal thinking, detached from emotional considerations. Interested in focussing the mind to formulate new and unusual ways of dealing with people, groups society and the world. Progressive view of things and rarely follow the beaten path. An insatiable urge for discovering that which isn’t known. Or developing that which is known into something which is new, refreshing and completely different.

So this is the phase of expression (leo) in the process of the lanthanides, which as a whole is about bright (gemini) truthseekers (sagittarius) that concentrate (taurus) on their inner world (scorpio) to become autonomous (scorpio) individuals with mindpower (gemini/scorpio).

57. Lanthanum

58. Cerium

60. Neodymium

Next remedy of the lanthanides is Promethium and here the expression of the individual has to become functional. It is in stage 7, the same stage as Manganum (ironseries) and Technetium (silverseries). But like in the previous series that point is difficult to reach, and it takes until stage 10 to learn how to practise and incorporate that.

Stage 7 is about developing nessesary skills to deal with the difficulties of the series it is in. Here with Promethium it are the skills that are needed to deal with the process of becoming an autonomous individual, that can completely stand on its own.

With Neodymium in the previous stage, the expression of that individual emerged, and now with Promethium, ways have to be found to act and stay autonomous. Finding ways and methods to stand up to the undermining outside world.

Stage 7 is similar to the astrological sign virgo, the individual body.

It has the polarity between critical and indifferent with the purpose of function. But this function needs the complement pisces, the universal soul.

The following three stages of the lanthanides are a repetition of the previous ones. In the process of researching the inner world (lanthanides), Praseodymium (stage 5) was about emotions, Neodymium (stage 6) about expression and Promethium (stage 7) about  function.

Samarium here in stage 8 is about emotion and expression. Stage 8 is similar to cancer

Nurturing, support, emotional bonding. First emotional attachments to the world. Experiences and imprinting during infancy and childhood. Insecurities and fears if your needs haven’t been fulfilled.

and leo.

Ego development, setting yourself apart from the rest of the world. Becoming your own person. Self-expression, being true to your inner nature. Personal integrity, self-assured, confident.

But they are only the potential (cancer the passive potential and leo the active potential) while their complements are the structure (capricorn the passive structure

Ambitious, feels pride in accomplishments. Serious, determined, disciplined, focused. Seeks certainties in life. Want things in concrete. Needs to bring theory into concrete reality. Knowing the rules and playing the game.

and aquarius the active structure)

Free-thinking, unorthodox, progressive. An insatiable urge for discovering that which isn’t known. Or developing that which is known into something which is new, refreshing and completely different.

and therefore more prominent at first, as the main characteristics of stage 8.

Heaviness, resistance, pressure, heavy task, constructors, work on their own, create something big, push through, against all odds, force to be free, opposition.

But the final purpose of Samarium is to integrate these characteristics in order to come to emotional/expressive (stage 8) mindpower (lanthanides).

Europeum is in stage 9 of the lanthanides. It is in the same stage as Cobaltum (ironseries) and Rhodium (silverseries). Stage 9 is about perfection (virgo)

Perfectionist, always seeking to improve, efficiency, practical, functional, analytical. Interested in crafts and projects. Reacts to defeats and setbacks by pulling back and altering approach.

and insecurity (cancer).

Feelings, emotion, first emotional attachments to the world. Experiences and imprinting during infancy and childhood. Insecurities and fears if your needs haven’t been fulfilled.

In the ironseries it was perfection and insecurity about their function (virgo), and in the silverseries about their reflection (libra) and vision (sagittarius).

Here with the lanthanides it is perfection and insecurity on their road to independence. Europeum in stage 9 is about developing skills (virgo) while dealing with experiences (cancer) in the totality of the lanthanides, which itself is a fusion of interaction (gemini)

Clever, curious, communication. Trying to figure out, intelligence. Requires great mental stimulation. Playful, inconstant, attention easily drifts so something new, seeks novelty.

and integration (scorpio).

Transformation, change, ego-death, rebirth, transcendence. Personal growth. Intense, passionate, magnetic, unyielding. Stands up for self, usually covertly, manipulates power. Understands deeper layers of the psyche beyond the ego, unable to communicate this well leading to misunderstandings. Breaking free of illusory limitations. Self-mastery.

At the top of the lanthanides is Gadolinium. It is in stage 10, the same stage as Niccolum (ironseries) and Palladium (silverseries).

With Gadolinium the insecurity makes place for confidence. While in stage 9 perfection (virgo) was combined with insecurity (cancer), is in stage 10 the perfection combined with confidence (leo).

So stage 10 is the phase of confidence (leo) and perfection (virgo) in the totality of the lanthanides. It is the final result of the development of the self.

Here with Gadolinium the individual has complete self-control. And it is not before the next stage that the control gets disturbed by ‘the other’ (libra).

With Terbium ‘the other’ comes in to play.  It is in stage 11 of the lanthanides, which is similar to libra, the first zodiac sign above the horizion. It is the phase of full moon and here the process turns around again.

Libra, the individual mind,  has the polarity of projecting and ignorance with the purpose of reflection.

Cuprum in stage 11 of the ironseries was about reflection on developed skills, and Argentum in the silverseries about reflection on art and inspiration. Here with the lanthanides, Terbium in stage 11 is about reflection on autonomy and inner development.

In Secret Lanthanides:

The most typical aspect of Terbium is a kind of gentlemanly quality. In all circumstances they try to stay friendly and in controle of themselves. It can express itself as a very charming quality.

Important here is to integrate the complement of libra, aries, the primordial spirit.

Lacks persistence and stamina. Honest and forthright.

Dysprosium is the last remedy in the individual part of the lanthanides. It is in stage 12, the same stage as Zincum (ironseries) and Cadmium (silverseries), which is similar to scorpio, the individual soul.

The individual part started with expression (leo), developed skills to function (virgo) and then reflection (libra) from the outside world. Now with scorpio, the repressed part of the self has to be integrated.

With Dysprosium this integration takes place in a series that itself has everything to do with integration, as the lanthanides as a whole are a fusion of scorpio with gemini. But first the polarity of manipulation and abuse has to be explored.

Scholten mentions the keynote of fighting.

This fighting quality can make them look as if they try to dominate others, which is contrary to the general lanthanide quality of letting others free. But it’s not really domination, more a fight for their own autonomy. They can also become defenders of the independence of others.

The complement of scorpio is taurus.

Practical, provides stamina and persistence. Slow, steady, methodical.

Holmium is the first remedy of the universal part of the lanthanides. In the human development this is the point where the individual gets a view of the bigger whole. Holmium is in stage 13, the same stage as Gallium (ironseries) and Indium (silverseries). Here is the transition from the individual soul (scorpio) into the universal spirit (sagittarius).

Becoming a member of a wider society. Experiences that lead to consciousness expansion. Being receptive to new points of view, wisdom, enlightenment. Using your talents for the benefit of the greater whole. Freedom loving, idealist, unfettered by small thinking, inspiration, religion, philosophy, the law.

Sagittarius has the polarity of judging and withdraw with the purpose of vision. The complement is gemini with the polarity of curious and anxious and the purpose of interaction.

This transition was also in the ironseries and in the silverseries, but now with the lanthanides, it is the first time that the individual has found its autonomy.

In ‘Secret Lanthanides’, Scholten mentions cyniscism.

The contra powers are too strong for them to maintian their own position. They still feel like fighting, at least to some extent. They fight at certain moments and in certain places, when they judge they have power enough. This can also be seen in their verbal fighting. They can express their opinion with sharp remarks. They can be really cynical and sarcastic. It shows that they feel they know better, but can not hold that opinion completely.

Erbium is in stage 14 of the lanthanides. It is the same stage as Carbon, Silicium, Germanium and Stannum. This stage is similar to capricorn, the universal body.

So stage 14 is in essence about construction. But first the polarity of formal and  depressed has to be explored.

In the carbonseries this was the construction of the personality (Carbon, constructive manifestion). In the siliciumseries it was the construction of the communication (Silicium, constructive interaction). In the ironseries it was about the construction of the professional life (Germanium, constructive function) and in the silverseries the construction of art and inspiration (Stannum, constructive reflection/vision).

With the lanthanides it is the phase of ambition and discipline on the road to independence (Erbium, constructive interaction/integration).

In ‘Secret Lanthanides’, Erbium is described as stoic.

It is as if they have resigned, are standing aside from life. In a positive way this can express itself in ironic and laconic behaviour. This is when it’s a deep state, when it is their character. Philosophically they are stoic. In a depressed state it feels more like a gloom and being out of touch with the origin of it.

The complement, which has to be integrated, is cancer.

65. Terbium

67. Holmium

68. Erbium

Thulium is in stage 15 of the lanthanides. In the universal part of each series, this phase  is the symbol of the universal mind. It is similar to the astrological sign aquarius.

An insatiable urge for discovering that which isn't known. Or developing that which is known into something which is new, refreshing and completely different.

The final purpose is invention, but first the polarity of destruction and nervousness have to be explored.

The lanthanides as a whole are a fusion of the primordial mind and the individual soul (gemini/scorpio) and with Thulium this goes together with the universal mind (aquarius).

Scholten talks about the total state of consciousness.

Typical of Thulium is the frightening dream of falling endlessly in the dark. This dream expresses the state of Thulium quite completely with the feeling of fright, not being able to do anything, not being able to see, not having any contact, only having consciousness.

What is needed here is to find the individual centre again. It is the complement of aquarius, leo, that has to be integrated. The expression of leo, the individual spirit.

Ytterbium is in stage 16 of the lanthanides. Stage 16 is similar to pisces, the universal soul.

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. It is the phase of a cycle that is coming to an end. Here with the lanthanides, it is the cycle of inner development. Ytterbium is in the same stage as Oxygen, Sulphur, Selenium and Tellurium.

In ‘Secret Lanthanides’ Ytterbium is standing outside society.

They don’t belong to the normal world of connections and work. For them the world is nice to philosophize about, but not to live in with all its hectic nature and obligations.

But there is also the promise of seeing the bigger picture, seeing everything as a whole.

The compliment is virgo which is the opposite of the bigger picture. Virgo is about fragmentation.

Virgo has the polarity between critical and indifference with the goal of function. Here in stage 16, function (virgo) has to be fused with compassion (pisces).

Lutetium is the last remedy of the lanthanides. It is in stage 17 and, like with the other remedies of that stage, here the characteristics of the complement of the whole series become more prominent.

Fluor was in stage 17 of the carbonseries, which as a whole was similar to taurus. Taurus is about manifestation, which at the end in stage 17 is overdone. With Fluor, the complement becomes more prominent and the complement of taurus is scorpio. So the characteristics of scorpio play a prominent role in Fluor.

Chlorine was in stage 17 of the siliciumseries, which as a whole was similar to gemini. Gemini is about interaction, but stage 16 and 17 in the siliciumseries have its own dynamic, with Chlorine in stage 17 the emotions of cancer. The complement of cancer is capricorn and therefore the characteristics of capricorn play a prominent role in Chlorine.

Bromium was in stage 17 of the ironseries, which as a whole was similar to virgo. Virgo is about function and at the end it has to be released. The complement is pisces and so the characteristics of pisces are more prominent with Bromium.

Iodium was in stage 17 of the silverseries, which as a whole was similar to libra and sagittarius. Those where about reflection and vision and the complements are aries and gemini. So impulsion and interaction are characteristics of Iodium.

Here with the lanthanides, which as a whole are similar to scorpio and gemini, the compliments taurus and sagittarius become important. That makes manifestation and vision characteristic in Lutetium. These are important features just before entering the goldseries.

But someone can get stuck in this phase and than there is no desire to step into the responsibility of the goldseries. Scholten calls them unbound and playful.

The most striking quality is the playfulness. When that quality is their character they can be really nice and funny. They play with life and people in a lovely way. But with it they are also out of connection, unbound.

With Hafnium we finally return to the goldseries. The previous stage of the goldseries, stage 3, was a series of its own. It was the stage that was similar to gemini. It was about interaction in the totality of the goldseries, that as a whole is similar to capricorn. Capricorn that has to do with responsibilty, leadership and society.

But those qualities can only be strong if they are supported by an individual who has inner peace. And this inner peace is formed after the long and intensive inner battle, symbolised by scorpio, the sign belonging by the series of stage 3 of the goldseries, the lanthanides.

But now with Hafnium the goldseries continues. Hafnium is in stage 4, the same stage as Titanium (ironseries), Zirconium (silverseries) and Cerium (lanthanides). It is a stage inbetween. It is between gemini in stage 3 and cancer in stage 5, so it has the characteristics of both. It is the phase between the rational decision of the mind (gemini) and the actual experience of the soul (cancer).

So it is learning how to find words for emotions, connect experiences with language, in the whole of the goldseries, which is similar to capricorn.

69. Thulium

71. Lutetium

Next in the goldseries is Tantalum. It is in stage 5, the same stage as Vanadium (ironseries), Niobium (silverseries) and Praseodymium (lanthanides).

It is the last stage of the primordial part of the goldseries and is similar to cancer, the primordial soul.

The complement of stage 5 is capricorn,

Bring about the perfect society. Making practical, efficient connections with others on the physical plane. Ambitious, feels pride in accomplishments. Reality, hard facts. Relationship to authority. Serious, determined, disciplined, focused. Fathering, disciplining love. Authority figures. Seeks certainties in life. Want things in concrete. Concerned with the practical relationships to support yourself within society. Not interested in blue sky ideas, needs to bring theory into concrete reality. Knowing the rules and playing the game.

which itself is similar to the whole goldseries.

So here with Tantalum the only two signs that play a role are cancer and capricorn.

The goldseries as a whole has the polarity of formal and depressed, and needs the complementary sign cancer to get to its goal of construction, which is the final purpose of the goldseries.

And stage 5, that has the polarity of claiming and abandon, needs the complementary sign
capricorn to get to handling emotions, which is the final purpose of stage 5.

Next in the goldseries is Tantalum. It is in stage 5, the same stage as Vanadium (ironseries), Niobium (silverseries) and Praseodymium (lanthanides). It is the last stage of the primordial part of the goldseries and is similar to cancer, the primordial soul.

So here with Tantalum the two signs that play a role are cancer and capricorn.

The goldseries as a whole has the polarity of formal and depressed, and needs the complementary sign cancer to get to its goal of construction, which is the final purpose of the goldseries.

Stage 5 that has the polarity of claiming and abandon, and needs the complementary sign capricorn to get to its goal of handling emotions which is the final purpose of stage 5.

Tungsten is the first remedy of the individual part of the goldseries, the part where the individual becomes seperate from the primordial background, here in the whole of the goldseries.

It is in stage 6, the same stage as Chromium (ironseries), Molybdenum (silverseries) and Neodymium (lanthanides), which is similar to leo.

Leo has the polarity of arrogant and disrespected, so with Tungsten that polarity plays in the world of construction, leadership and responsibility (goldseries/capricorn).

The complement of leo and stage 6 is aquarius which has the polarity of destruction and nervousness. The middle path of aquarius is invention, which is needed to get to the purpose of stage 6, expression.

So Tungsten is about expression (stage 6) of ambition (goldseries).

Rhenium is the second remedy of the individual part of the goldsereries. It is in stage 7 which is similar to virgo.

It is in the same stage as Manganum (ironseries), Technetium (silverseries) and Promethium (lanthanides). Here in the goldseries, the qualities of virgo go with the qualities of another earthsign, capricorn.

So Rhenium is about functional (virgo) construction (capricorn), efficient (virgo) leadership (capricorn), practical (virgo) responsibility (capricorn) or analytical (virgo) ambition (capricorn).

But that is after searching the extremes of critical and indifferent, which is the polarity of virgo, that has to be explored first.

The complement of virgo is pisces.

Pisces has the core of compassion that has to be integrated with the function of virgo.
